From the get going, I always found Musk quite different from
other tech developers because of his keen attitude to do something different and
in the process taking human race one step forward to the future. Elon Musk, the
founder and CEO of Tesla, Space X and Boring Company is currently working on quite
mind boggling project which is looking to connect human brains with artificial
intelligence. According to Musk, This could lead to a future of super
intelligence.
At its early stages, Neuralink is developing a Brain
Machine Interface which detects brain signals that would help paralyzed to
connect with their robotic limps and other devices by simply transmitting
signals through their brain. It basically works by implanting thin threads with
electrodes in them into the brain. Although, it might have some grave
consequences as this could damage the brain. In order to avoid it, Neuralink is
also working on neurosurgical robot that will perform surgery because of the
sensitivity of the region. They claim that it could implant six filaments like
threads with thousands of electrodes into your brain without damaging the hemispheres
of brain. The plan is to develop a battery powered computer which is quite
small and sleek that could sit right behind the ear and it controls the chips
installed in brain from outside.
Musk also envisions that it might have certain
applications for people that are not disabled. It would ultimately allow us to
connect with our devices without having any physical contact through our brain.
This could have a massive impact as one can transmit all the information from
the device into brain instantly. This reminds me of scene from sci-fi movie
named Matrix where all the combat skills are transmitted into Neo’s brain with
help of computers. This may sound amusing but this is happening right now, as
Musk says that they will perform the surgery in the upcoming year.
Musk is always very critical about the development of artificial
intelligence and believes that it could be proved dangerous for human race. That’s
why; He believes that this technology will help us to combat the uprising of
artificial intelligence in the upcoming future.
I think that Musk is quite optimistic when it comes to
the future, as he is continuously putting his resources into projects that
might have some feasible applications in the future. This peculiar way of
thinking and looking at things in different manner made him celebrity in the
tech world, as he always create the buzz with this type of innovations.
